Students get recognised for outstanding achievement as Museum Guardians.
L & R Dear Museum Guardians 2025 Ceremony

This year, our Museum Guardians continued to demonstrate outstanding kaitiakitanga — caring for and preserving the taonga and stories of Southland Boys’ High School. The Old Boys' Association kindly provided a delicious morning tea celebration in recognition of these students' service to the L & R Dear Museum in 2025.
Luke Biggar, Joshua Christie, Hudson Culliford, Xavier Frew, Alex Gwynne, Victor Helberg, Zane Hoyle, Junior Kaieti, Jeremy Maramba, Danu Marawila, Cooper Marrah, Timothy McCallum, Hayden Millar, William Morrison, Ayooluwa Odunayo, Tai Saxton, Kaden Skeggs, Simpson Stevenson, Ārana Turuwhenua, Jacob Wilkinson-Hall, and Alexander Winslade.
Special recognition:
Hudson Culliford – Developed a program to assist with cataloguing.
Junior Kaieti – Created a Toa Moana website and recovered digital records of the group dating back to 2009 to be included in the archive.
Jacob Wilkinson-Hall – Exceptional service since 2024; led digitisation of videos, photography, and artefact cataloguing.
Hayden Millar – Exceptional service since 2023; proposed a website for the museum and developed a program to assist with research for the Old Boys' Association, as well as documenting and digitally preserving our foyer's Waharoa Carving for safekeeping and future use on digital platforms.
