Year 7 Speech Finals – A Celebration of Young Voices

Year 7 Speech Finals Showcase Young Talent

On Wednesday 16th July, Southland Boys’ High School hosted its much-anticipated Year 7 Speech Finals - a highlight on the junior academic calendar. The event brought together a group of exceptional young speakers who demonstrated maturity, confidence, and insight well beyond their years.

Each finalist took to the stage to present a carefully crafted speech on a topic of their choice. The range of subjects was as impressive as the delivery - some students spoke from personal experience, sharing heartfelt reflections, while others tackled global issues with clarity and conviction. Regardless of the topic, every speech showcased a deep level of thought, creativity, and individuality.

The competition not only highlighted the students’ growing skills in public speaking but also underscored the importance of giving young people a platform to express their ideas. It was evident that these boys had spent time refining their messages, practicing their delivery, and preparing to connect with their audience. Their ability to speak with such poise and passion is a testament to their hard work and the support of their teachers and families.

Moments like these are an important part of the school experience. They help build communication and critical thinking skills while fostering confidence and self-belief. The finals were a celebration - not just of competition, but of voice, perspective, and the power of words.

Congratulations to all our Year 7 finalists for their courage and excellence. You’ve set a high bar for the years ahead, and we look forward to seeing where your voices take you next.
