A traditional school with a contemporary heart

World Challenge Expedition to Borneo 2026 - Expression of Interest Now Open

sBHS Students Invited on a Life-Changing Expedition to the Jungles of Borneo for 2026.

Southland Boys’ High School is thrilled to announce a unique opportunity for students to take part in a World Challenge Expedition to Borneo, scheduled for July 2026.

This two-week journey will take students far beyond the traditional classroom, offering hands-on experiences in one of the world’s most biodiverse environments. From trekking through dense rainforests and spotting orangutans in the wild, to assisting with turtle conservation on pristine beaches and contributing to meaningful community projects - this expedition promises both adventure and growth.

Students will spend time exploring Gunung Gading National Park, known for its lush jungle trails and rare plant species, before visiting the Semenggoh Wildlife Centre, where they’ll have the chance to observe orangutans in their natural habitat. The itinerary also includes a coastal conservation project focused on protecting endangered sea turtles, as well as time working alongside local communities on grassroots initiatives.

But this expedition is about much more than travel. It’s designed to build confidence, independence, resilience, and global citizenship. Participants will be encouraged to step out of their comfort zones, work as a team, and take on responsibilities that foster personal development and leadership.

To help families learn more about the opportunity, World Challenge will be hosting an online information session on Wednesday 23rd July 2025 at 6:00pm. The 45-minute presentation will provide an overview of the trip, its educational value, and the support available to students and families throughout the planning process.

Full details, including registration for the info session, are available here: World Challenge 2026
