The L & R Dear Museum held a series of open days in March in conjunction with Southland Heritage Month. Hosted by archivist Tabita Sales, the museum had a steady stream of visitors of all ages, with valuable connections made with the community.
Notable visitors included Michele Sara, who is the step granddaughter of old Rector, Mr Cornwell, who shared some memories of the Rector's House, now the Music Block, and Gavin McKenzie who was the Project Manager from the Ministry of Education when Pearce Block was redeveloped in the 90s.
The museum was recently renamed in honour of Lynley and Russell Dear and their selfless contribution to preserving the history of our school.
A big thank you to the Museum Guardians for their invaluable assistance during the open days: Hayden Millar, Tom Smith, Jacob Wilkinson-Hall, Alexander Winslade, and Kayden Skeggs.
