2025 Sports Day Information

Information for our annual Sports Day, this Thursday 27 February.

Dear Parents/Caregivers,

On Thursday 27th February, we are holding our annual Southland Boys’ High School Athletics Sports Day. This is where our students compete against a set standard and attempt to try to qualify for the Southland Secondary / Primary School Athletics Day which is going to be held later in the term.  We have a back-up day on Friday 28th February, so if we postpone the Sports Day, an announcement will be put on the school Facebook page as well as on 89.2 More FM.

Athletics Day Timetable 2025

The expectations are that all students attend and participate in this event to build House Spirit & Competition. Your son will gain points for his house for attempting any track or field event and gain further points for reaching the qualifying mark.

Students should dress up in house colours, although warm comfortable clothing is important, as well as being sun smart. Students need not wear their best T-shirts or best clothes for example, as some House groups use paint to identify students in their House.

A reminder of House colours that Deaker is red, Grant is green, Pearce is silver, Uttley is blue, and Coldstream is orange.

Approximate times for age group events are on the timetable information sheet. We will aim to stick to these times.

Please feel free to support your son throughout the day, and a special welcome to our new Year 7 students and their whanau.

The Day will aim to get underway at 9am, with students expected at school from 8.30am onwards, with them meeting in their House areas on the main field for further instructions. The day should finish at approximately 2.45-3pm, and students are expected to stay until then. The school Canteen will be serving continuously from 10.30-2, but students should be prepared with snacks and water bottles during the day.

We look forward to seeing you there.
