Two teams competed in the regional finals of the EPro8 Challenge - a science and engineering challenge.
We had two teams compete in the Southland Regional finals for the EPro8 Engineering challenge on Wednesday 27 March.
The EPro8 Challenge is an inter-school science and engineering competition. Every year over 25,000 students from throughout New Zealand take part. Students participate in a series of events: firstly within their school and then inter-school. These events are designed to promote science, engineering and problem solving.
The teams were as follows:
SBHS 1: Zachary Wijkstra, Oliver Payne, Liam Ankerson, Harrison Milne
SBHS 2: Austin Sanford, Brodie Clay, Abel Herron, Alfie Simons
In their challenges they had to build a rollercoaster with working elevator, a lawnmower that could drive and direct itself, and a 'pimped' toilet.
Congratulations to SBHS 1 who came second place, and SBHS 2 who came fourth. We can't wait to complete again next year!
