Our Year 9 and 10 students recently visited the Awarua Satellite Ground Station.
Last week some of our Year 9 and 10 students visited the Awarua Communications Museum and the Awarua Satellite Ground Station.
Awarua Satellite Ground Station is the most southern ground station in Pacific Ocean Region at 46.5°S, and Awarua is the first station with spacecraft visibility on the western side of the Pacific Ocean.
Our students had a great opportunity to learn about the incredible history and bright future of communication and space technology in Southland with Robin McNeill (CEO of SpaceOps New Zealand) himself.
The day was full of discovery and appreciation of the critical role New Zealand plays to understand, connect and hopefully protect, our planet.
