A silver placing at the Power Chess National Online Tournament!
On Saturday 21 October, four of our most talented senior chess players participated in the Power Chess National Online Tournament.
Oshadha Perera, Jay McWilliam, Aston Wijkstra and Kit Zoreno took part in nine rounds of chess - a test for any student's mental stamina. They led the way from the start. In the end - and only during the last three rounds - they were pushed out to silver, only 1.5 points behind Whanganui High School.
Oshadha Perera, Jay McWilliam and Aston Wijkstra were named as three of the top five players in the tournament, with Oshadha also receiving the 'Brilliancy Award', winning the first rated player in an epic battle. Kit Zoreno was rated 11th out of all the students participating in the senior field.
Outstanding work gentlemen, congratulations.
