Gold at the National Secondary School Culinary Challenge!
On Wednesday 23 August Caleb Ridd and Ngakau McKerchar competed against 7 other regional winners of the National Secondary School Culinary Challenge.
The competition was held at the Manukau Institute of Technology (MIT) in Auckland. Caleb and Ngakau worked extremely well together and showed off some excellent culinary skills to the judges. There were a few nerves and a lot of laughs!
However - three quarters of the way through the competition the gas went out at MIT! Unfortunately, they had to stop the competition for safety reasons and no one was able to plate their main dish. Because everyone had got so far through the cook, and the judges had already scored for the floor and entree, the judges were still able to award medals.
The judges were really impressed with how Caleb and Ngakau worked and what they produced, earning them a GOLD medal!
We are so proud of you both - congratulations!
