Year 11 and 12 catering students from Southland Boys' High School took part in the part in the Famous Young Chef's Degustation Luncheon.
On Saturday 29 April Paul Drummond, Joel Harris, Tyler Thwaites, Lakai Wynne, Alex Winslade, and Lhanz Morales worked with eight well-known chefs to prepare and present a six-course luncheon for over 160 guests. The food was incredible, and the students worked extremely hard to perfect every course.
Returning for its third year, this 5-course luncheon with matching wines is prepared by chefs in training using produce grown in Southland. The chefs are mentored throughout by 8 internationally recognised working chefs - creating a pathway for further training and professional development.
Hospitality New Zealand Southland branch president and chef Graham Hawkes said the lunch showcased the talent of future chefs and the outstanding quality of local producers.
