Congratulations to the Southland Boys' High School golf team for winning the Southland Secondary School Golf Championships.
Played on Monday 27 March at the Winton Golf Course, conditions were cloudy with periods of drizzle, and at times the wind was challenging. The course played well and the Southland Boys' High School teams played solid golf. A feature of their play was their approach shots to the green. At times we saw some pin point accuracy.
Cooper Boyce, Oliver Piggott, Jake Slater, Taine Withy, Jacob Boniface, Charlie Standish and Duncan Tait took part, with the team of Jacob Boniface, Charlie Standish and Duncan Tait taking out the major honours, winning the Secondary Schools Challenge trophy! They also placed 1st in the nett teams and 2nd in the gross team scores.
All members of the team played better than their handicaps which is a testament to their commitment and love of the sport.
